No actual news, really, but I had to log on here to clean out some spam, so I figured I\u2019d post. It\u2019s scheduled for June now instead of May \u2014 sorry about that. I still haven\u2019t seen the cover art.<\/p>\n
Once I\u2019ve mailed out all the donor copies, I\u2019ll start the next Ethshar serial. It will be either Ishta\u2019s Companion<\/i> or Stone Unturned<\/i>, don\u2019t yet know which. Both titles are subject to change.<\/p>\n
Ishta\u2019s Companion<\/i> has been known by several titles over the last thirty years \u2014 yes, it\u2019s that old an idea. I think I\u2019ve mostly referred to it as A Stranger in the Forest<\/i>. I\u2019m midway through writing Chapter Four of maybe twenty.<\/p>\n
Stone Unturned<\/i> has also had several titles, but in a much briefer period; around here I\u2019ve generally called it \u201cthe big fat Ethshar novel,\u201d because none of the previous titles were any good. This one looks like it might stick. I\u2019m midway through writing Chapter Five of\u2026 a lot. Like, maybe fifty, if it stays a single novel. It could split into three or more \u2014 not the usual way, being chopped up chronologically, but by getting split among the viewpoint characters. If that happens, three of the pieces will be Lord Landessin\u2019s Gallery<\/i>, The Petrified Prince<\/i>, and The Demon\u2019s Master<\/i>. Lord Landessin\u2019s Gallery<\/i> was previously known as The Wizard\u2019s Garden<\/i>. A couple of other old story ideas, A Slave of Wizardry<\/i> and Pender the Jeweler<\/i>, are probably also going to be incorporated into this one. (The Petrified Prince<\/i> is new.)<\/p>\n
Stone Unturned<\/i> may be too complex to do as a serial; we\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n
