I’m a little surprised Carlie didn’t ask when the rumors started. The timing in relation to the assassination attempt seems important. And, more urgently, she’d want to confirm that they aren’t so recent they could be true.
Ah, that’s a second-draft detail. Yes, it should be in there, and it will be in the final version.
She won’t check right away — ‘Chan’s assuming she knows it already, so she doesn’t want to admit she doesn’t. But she’ll check it.
As for how recent they are, ‘Chan thinks she’s there to investigate the death, so they can’t be that recent, or she wouldn’t have had time to get there from Prometheus.
